Phoebe the Cyber Crime Dog Has a Request!

Hi everyone! It’s Phoebe the Cyber Crime Dog here!

My mom, Jayne Hitchcock, has entered in the Pepsi Refresh Project. She is trying to win a grant for $50,000 to go to middle and high schools to teach students how to stay safer online.

There are so many schools that don’t have the budget to pay for her to come, so if she wins this grant, that means she can cast a wider net to get the word out about cyber safety.

Plus, that means she can bring me along so that I can teach kids not to be cyberbullies!!!!

For the entire month of November, you can vote *every day* for her project at http://www.refresheverything.com/onlinesafetyand you can text a second vote – text 109782 to 73774 (Pepsi)
Thank you – Roo Roo!

Rumpy here! I support what Phoebe and her mom do. There are so many more dangers kids face online, not only from strangers, but from people they know. There have been many publicized cases of sexting, cyber-bullying, and sexual harassment. In fact, just yesterday a poll revealed that half the children asked stated that they had been sexually harassed. So please vote for Phoebe. Thank you.

  1. Woo woo! I’ve just voted today! You said that we can vote EVERY DAY the entire month of November? I will! The reason I wanna help Phoebe is I really agree that there are so many dangerous things on web. Internet is very useful but we have to be careful how to use. Telling it to kids are great idea!!!Although I don’t live in US, I hope this idea spread all over the world!!! Woof! πŸ™‚

  2. Thank you everyone! Yes, you can vote every day and please share/repost the info to your friends. If mom gets the grant, she is hoping to use some of it to go to schools in Canada and possibly Europe (although I won’t be able to go with her then)

  3. Voted online and by text! Going to try to remember to do it daily until the contest wins and she’s a winner! I appreciate her passion to teach internet safety to kids! We need more people like that!

  4. Best wishes to Jayne… hope she wins and will check out the voting when I catch my breath… working on catching up again after a hectic workshop week again. πŸ™‚
