Sing-Song Play Along!

Oh Dog! Did I ever tell you how weird Jen is? It’s true!

Jen? What ARE you doing?

For instance, she has a song for each one of us. They usually don’t make sense, but she likes singing to us. And, well, we humor her by pretending to like it.

The song she sings for me is a rewrite of an old Chef Boyardee commercial. Here’s the commercial.

.

But Jen sings:

We have a Rumparoni!
Beef and macaroni!
Rumparoni loves to eat.
Rumparoni’s full of meat.
Rumparoni’s really neat.
Hooray! For Rumparoni!!!!

*shakes head sadly* You see what we put up with? She’s beyond hopeless!!!!

But if you think mine’s bad, check out DeDe’s!!!!

.

Just change the doo doo to DeDe…. and well, you get the drift.

But I gotta admit, we like the Mahna-Mahna!!!

About Jen and the Furries

Hello and welcome. Iโ€™m a 50 something woman whoโ€™s probably awake when she should be sleeping. Oh, and there are animals, because who doesnโ€™t have pets?

  4. Serious ear worms coming at us! We certainly have songs for most of ours – made up nonsense most of them ๐Ÿ˜‰

  5. I’m singing “dogsongs” too. And my dogs pretend to like them as well. Nah, I think they really like them, because if I sing a dogsong, I must be in a good mood.

  7. I reblogged this article, … in German, because my favourite “dogsong” has German lyrics.

  8. Thank you sooo much for this post Rumpy : you’ve made me feel less lonely on this issue …
By the way, Mahna-Mahna is one of our favourite too, because of the lyrics and the melody, but mostly because of it’s philosophical conclusion :
    “- What is a Mahna-Mahna ?
    – Who cares ?”
We think it’s very deep ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. BOL. Mummy sings to me too:
    Ninky Ninky Noodles
    Should have been a poodle
    Or a MagnaDoodle
    But not an Etch-a-Sketch!

AND (to the tune of Rupert the Bear)

    Noodles, Noodles the dog
    Everyone knows her name
    Noodles, Noodles the dog
Everyone come and join […pause…] in all of her games!”

    AND there’s more…

“Noodles is a Big Bummed Bear
She’d look darn silly if she had no hair!”

And you think JEN is weird???

We luvs Mnah Mnah by da way xxx

  13. Awww, sweet Rumpy that just shows how much she loves you two. She re-wrote a song for you and that Mahna-Mahna song is not easy to sing. Now that is real special and she loves you two a lot to do that. Hugs and nose kisses

  16. Funny!!! With Sephi I would sing, “Sephi Doodle, Sephi Doodle, Sephi Doodle, Doodle head!” along with the rising crescendo of “Flight of the Valkyries”.

  19. Oh Rumpy – humans ARE a weird lot BUT since they provide us with free room and board, we have to just smile and “play along” with some of their behavior – like singing…..right???

  20. Hah love it! I make up all sorts of nonsense songs all day long for my dog. I’m convinced owning a dog just turns us into crazies.

  23. I think it’s precious that your Mom has songs for you. They sound much better than basket-case’s (sorry, husbands) song is for me, His has no tone and only 4 words, repeated endlessly “I love my wife………..” and on and on we go.

  28. Oh Rumpydog, is it off key? You look a little shocked in that photo.

    Posted by Boomdeeadda | July 19, 2012, 3:03 PM
  29. I don’t think Jen is weird at all Rumpydog! I had a song about both my dogs. My song for Abby, a Australian Shepard mix, was called “It’s all about meeeeee!” and for Maggie, a red Chocolate Lab mix, the song was called “Pleeeeeaaase” (sung in the key of whiny). So it’s sounds pretty normal to me.

  31. Oh I admit to making songs up about my little terrors too! They do look at me like I’m a) mad or b) they’d like me to go away somewhere and come back when I’ve learned to behave myself! xx

  32. Rumpy! Special songs are not so weird…or maybe it’s just a silly human thing. RC is very cranky if she doesn’t get her song each morning.
Oh, If you know any pit rescue groups – please send them to my blog. There has been a very large rescue here in the past few days (298 dogs) – these are dogs with good temperaments – and it used to be a respected shelter. Thanks

  33. Mumma sings to us too – sometimes our own songs, sometimes songs that include all 3 of us! She likes to sing Truly Scrumptious from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – but changes the words to ‘you three are truly scrumptious’. Mummas are a little crazy sometimes! Bubba, Bella & Beary x

  36. Hey, you naughty Rumpy–don’t you dare say Jen is weird! I have special songs for each of my own dogs and cats, I will have you know! How else would we talk about the important stuff together?

  38. I just thought of a great song for my dog Pierson. You know the “Spongebog Squarepants” song? Sing it saying “Mr. Pierson Fluffybutt” instead. ๐Ÿ˜€

  39. My mom is sure she’s related to Diana Ross so she’s always cooing,
“Rammy love, my Rammy love, I need you, oh, how I need you…”

Pretty embarrasing, but I guess if that’s the worst of her character faults, I can live with it.

    Posted by onecoolgriff | July 22, 2012, 9:52 AM
  40. LOL.. and I thought I was the only weirdo around. It’s all in the idea, Rumpy ๐Ÿ˜€

  41. Aw- singing makes a dull day brighter! We don’t sing to Moe cat, but photographer calls him RejuvaMoe when he licks her face!
