Wordless Wednesday- The Realities of Moving

I don’t relish moving.

.

There’s all the packing.

I never realize how much stuff I have until I have to move it
I don’t realize how much stuff I have until I have to move it

And the repacking.

Gee, thanks June Buggie!
Gee, thanks June Buggie!

But at least I have lots of help.

Of course I'm helping!
Of course I’m helping!

On second thought……

  1. Oh I’m not looking forward to any of that! We actually looked at a house in our street tonight and I thought one of the major upsides would be not having to pack. I could just walk everything down the road!!

  2. At least I don’t have to pack everything this time. But it’s not a huge consolation. Last time you’ve been moving, you said you like it. ^^ See now what I mean? No matter how much you can take with you, there’s always something missing. Things get damaged or disappear miraculously.

      1. Thing is if you leave something behind you might miss it a year later and even forget you’ve thrown it away. And search it until you remember. Happened to me when I moved from Germany to France.

  3. Us dogs don’t help much with moving but the kitties sure love to help out with the boxes! Moving tip from my mom – get a load of cheap paper towels and wrap all your glasses and dishes in them. Why? They are clean when you unpack, so not like newspaper where you have to wash everything and then if you save the paper towels in a big bag or box you have them on hand for clean up for months. 🙂

  4. Gives me the horrors!! when we moved here it was a three hour trek…four cats two dogs three sheep…and of course a lifetime of crappola…..good luck 🙂

  5. I don’t mind moving. I think of it as a chance to re start. But then again I’m an army brat so moving was a part of life. Thankfully my cats never chewed the boxes. Good luck on your move.

  6. But Rumpy all of you ARE helping!! If you stay out of the way and don’t trip her you’ll be a huge help!

*whispers* But have a talk with June Buggie so the box scratching and biting stops. You don’t want Mom missing dinner times and treat times because the time is spent repacking!! That would be PAWFUL!!

  7. I feel your pain. Last March I had to pack up and move from California to Pennsylvania. I drove across country with two cats in the back seat. Maxwell howled the entire 3 thousand miles!

  8. I haven’t moved in 22 years, but when I do a show or festival I pack and move the equivalent of a 10×10 room complete with fixtures, walls and roof, and I hate that too. I love being at the festival, I just hate packing boxes and packing the car and unpacking and repacking….Good luck with all your help!

  9. I used clear locking totes to move my last time so I could see what was in each tote and pack by room… I traveled 16 1/2 hours with two dogs two beta fish and a cat in a pick up truck…all with me in the front of the truck..everything in the back was tarped and bungeed down…we stopped to go potty eat and get gas…TC was not a fan of the leash but lived through it…hope your new place has a huge fenced in yard… PS storing what I did not need right away was great in the totes…

  10. we are moving too. I love your pic of the piles of boxes. Instead of “Never stop improving” Lowe’s should make the packing boxes say “Never stop packing” because that’s what it feels like!

  11. we got a repreive it looks like…our owner will extend our lease one more year, we are still hoping for two more years, and NOT RAISE THE RENT! Paw crossed! Mom and Dad were dreading having to do the wrap it, pack it, lift it, move it, lift it, unpack it dance…and we think shorter moves are harder cuz you can take longer and move stuff a bit at a time…hope your new home is everything you want it to be Rumpy and Miss Jen and that you can all stay together. paw hugs, Savannah

  12. wow! You and June Buggie are good boys to help your mom to pack all those stuff!!! *giggles* I hope that your new place will be a lovely one for you, Jen and all your family! 🙂

  13. I think Rumpy will help you pack his cookies. He’ll make if even easier because he’ll eat them.

A possibility: My sister and brother-in-law moved from a 4 bedroom home, with dining room, finished basement, and a garage that never saw a car, only storage boxes from their other move, to a much smaller 3 bedroom apartment. There are mpre than 10 boxes sitting in their storage room, never opened, There are things you’ll pack and never need and never miss.

I don’t envy you. Good Luck.

  14. Ooog, moving sux. I like the idea of donating anything you haven’t used in 6 months or a year so you don’t have to keep lugging it around or finding room for it.Good luck with the move!

  15. We wish we could be there to help you! Eight kitties could make fast work of stuff…plus we would promise not to claw any boxes once they were packed up. OurPeople say they can never move because they have too much junque <– that's how they spell it! We're sending you love & no-more-problems-moving purrs! xoxoxo

  16. Moving again? It’s exhausting even down the street though…let alone many miles away. Good luck with everything and hope it all goes smoothly. At least you have excellent helpers! 🙂
