This week we heard a wonderful story thanks to fellow blogger and friend Maria Appleby!
And who is NOT in love with Gus Kenworthy this week? Sure, he won a silver medal in the slopestyle event, but it’s his adoption of a mama dog and her four puppies that have us all smiling from ear to ear.

Have you NOT heard about him staying in Sochi an extra week just so he could make arrangements to adopt these dogs?

Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska worked with Kenworthy to make it possible for him to bring the family to the US. And who paid to bring them over? None other than McDonald’s. Look for ads with Kenworthy soon!

And the best part is he is just an all-around good kid. He works hard. He has fun. And his heart is as big as they come. Well done, Gus!
.PS: All these photos came from Gus’ Twitter feed. You can follow him @guskenworthy.
Awwww … Indeed. What a lovely gesture. Thanks to Gus Kenworthy those pups now have a brighter future.
And this kid will prompt adoptions all around the world. You go, Gus!
That is the very best part of this story!!!!๐
Wonderful heart warming story! And shows what a Huge Heart Gus has.. ๐ xx
What a beautiful story!!! In fact I didn’t know about Gus Kenworthy but after reading this post, I’m sure that I’d be a big fan of him because his heart is so lovely! Besides to brings those pups from Rossia to US, there are some other people who help it which makes me feel so moved. Bravo Gus!!! I hope that these pups would have wonderful life in US! ๐

That was a wonderful gesture and for me he won the gold medal of the hearts :o)
Me too! And so did his mom, because she was OK with him bringing all these dogs home!
Thanks so much for sharing this story! It’s been the kind of week where something positive like this is just what was needed ๐ Kudos to Gus and his mom for raising awareness of adoption – and for improving the quality of life for five dog’s in the process!
I like good news!!!!
Good news is the bestest – I love finding bits of it I wasn’t aware of (we’re missing a lot of news this winter.)

How refreshing it is to find that he is so interested in the welfare of the dogs.
Don’t know why this made me cry. THANK GOODNESS FOR CARING PEOPLE. This is the BEST WAY TO START A SUNDAY.

P.S.: Those pups are so adorable!!
We love this kid. ๐ We heard that there were other American Olympians that were trying to bring some of the dogs back to the US too.
With all the stray dogs over there, what a wonderful thing to do. And what a big family he’s going to have all of a sudden. They’ll all be fighting to see who gets to take Gus for walks on his leash.
I know! They might each have to have one for him just to keep things straight.
What a wonderful person! Whee had never heard of him before but now whee can never forget him for having such a big heart.

Thanks for sharing this great news, Rumpy!! And because Gus brought so much attention to the many stray dogs in Sochi, maybe other people who live there will be thinking of adopting strays, too. That would be the best thing of all. Someone needs to start up a good spay and neuter program so there won’t be so many strays. OurPeople helped T(rap)N(euter)R(eturn) ten kitties in a feral colony last weekend. It was quite an adventure!
I can imagine!!!!
well…what can I say but he sure beats the heck out of that kid “Bee-brrr”…just sayin’
It’s so nice to hear stories like this, we were so horrified at what Russia was doing to these poor kitties and woofies.
Wonderful story … bravo, Gus!
