A Review of Caru- a New Dog Food for You!

Products marketed for dogs is an ever-growing industry. Seems like a new company jumps in the waters every day.

So why Caru?

Rumpy was sent a sample of the Healthy Stews and Bites to review.
Rumpy was sent a sample of the Healthy Stews and duck recipe Soft ‘n Tasty Bites to review.

According to the company web site, Caru is Welsh for “to love.” And the company founders started making dog food and treats out of their love for their dog, who suffered from food allergies.

Caru Healthy Stews are made from human-grade ingredients and are processed according to human food preparation standards. The first ingredient is real meat that is NOT sourced from China. Caru Healthy Stews contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, no grains, wheat, gluten, corn, soy or animal by-products. They use non-GMO ingredients and meat and poultry that’s antibiotic and hormone free.

Man, take a look at that! Made me hungry!

The Soft ‘n Tasty Treats are made using  these ingredients: Duck, Potato Flour, Beet Molasses, Blueberries, Cranberries, Vegetable Glycerin, Dried Cultured Skim Milk, Mixed Tocopherols (a preservative). There’s no corn, wheat, or soy, no GMO products used.

Man, don't these look good!

So, does the Cookiesaurus like them?

Are you kidding me? Of course he does!

The only think I don’t like about Caru is there is no local retailer carrying their products, and I didn’t see an online retailer listed on their web site. So as much as Rumpy liked their food, I can’t buy it.

But maybe you can! Want to find a local retailer? Check out their web site here.

This is one food I feel good about serving Rumpy. So how about giving it a try with your dog?

  1. My only question would be how does it compare in price. I eat like that myself, and I have to do all my grocery shopping at Whole Paycheck, where a dozen eggs costs me 61/2 bucks.

  2. Sounds yummy. Looks like a few fancy NYC boutiques stock this, so I will see if I can get my paws on some. If so, I’ll report back with the price.

      1. I have returned from my reconnaissance mission. My apologies for the delay, but my People did not want to wander too far afield while it was pouring rain yesterday.

We found the Caru stew at Beasty Feast for $5.99 a package (that’s what the price said today, so if anyone sees this comment a month from now, please keep in mind that this is just what we saw). So that could add up rather quickly!

They said that they do ship worldwide. They don’t have a website ordering system, so if anyone wanted to do that, you’d need to call them (the store on Hudson is the main one):

  3. boodoglifestyles which is opening an online store in a day or two has it… I feed it to my dogs and i’m trying to get other people a way to get it.:) boodoglifestyles on face book too:)
