Sonnet for the Man That I Would Love

His smile disarms even those most livid.
His eyes, they twinkle mischievously.
His persona, laid-back and yet vivid.
He loves the man he is, and he loves me.

Perhaps in worldly terms, he isn’t much.
No wealth, or fame, or power does he hold.
He don’t look like a movie star, as such,
And like me he’s what folks consider old.

Within himself he holds dear all that I
agree has worth, that makes life worth living.
I’ll venture forth with this amazing guy
To savor every day we are given.

My wish is to one day be by your side
And in each other’s heart we would abide.
