Be

After wooing me
with his quick wit,
he shut down.
I had a fit.
Insecurity
invaded my thoughts,
twisted my guts
in neat little knots.
On the marquee
the secret I’d kept
(subconsciously)
bade me accept
the reality
that I don’t know how to be
and let him be
and let things be.
