In Search of Aslan

Daily writing prompt
Describe a risk you took that you do not regret.

As I become more aware of myself and explore new possibilities, my cats have decided to take on their own risky quest.

To Narnia.

I’m not sure where the idea came from. I only know one day I caught Dexter trying to open the bottom kitchen cabinet doors, and eventually, despite the protective locks I’d installed a couple years ago, he managed to get inside.

Pretty soon others joined him on his quest. I guess it’s a low-budget remake of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

I have no idea what it is they’re looking for, but whatever it is, I hope they find it… without tearing anything up in the process.

I have a sneaking suspicion one of the older cats suggested the adventure idea to the youngsters in hopes they’d actually find Narnia and never come back.

Older cats are sneaky like that.

Are they gone yet?

  1. We have to be so careful of closing closet doors or even cabinet doors. Someone occasionally gets closed in. We have nose checks twice a day to make sure everyone is accounted for.

      1. Us too. Gracie got closed in a basement closet and we had a heck of a time looking for her. Guess she won’t do that again. She spent all day in there.

  2. Whenever we open a closet door, we have to triple check to make sure Ava is not in there before closing it again. Because she is all black, we sometimes miss her if she’s in the back shadows!
